The Background

The problem of insitu wood decay due to moisture ingress at the end-grain joints and the break down of glazing putties and mastic's is well know.

Conditions favorable for wood decay

Most conventional methods of repairing timber windows affected by wood decay can prove laborious and costly. The repair of damaged or rotting timber by splicing and the use of conventional fillers, are often only temporarily effective repairs.
